I Used AI to Create 6 Songs in a Week—Here’s What I Learned
—
Happy New Year, friends!
Make this year a story worth telling.
Take risks. Chase dreams. Face fears. Conquer, fight and win.
Let every day be a chapter you’re proud to write.
—
When I sat down to outline this letter, I wanted to give you something impactful to kickstart your year. Originally, I thought about writing a piece on using ChatGPT for marketing (don’t worry, it’s coming next week).
But something else grabbed me by the collar this week.
I’ve been creating music with Suno AI.
And it felt like magic.
I created 5 or 6 songs in completely different styles. I’ll share them with you soon. But this letter isn’t about me flexing my newfound AI-powered music skills.
It’s about something much deeper.
Something that could change the way you think about creativity, technology, and what’s possible for you this year.
Here’s what I want to share:
AI Isn’t Killing Creativity
There’s a debate raging about AI and creativity.
You’ve heard it—“AI will destroy music, art, writing, and movies.” People talk like it’s the end of an era, like creativity itself is dying.
I couldn’t disagree more.
AI isn’t replacing creativity. It’s amplifying it.
Let me show you what I mean by walking you through exactly how I created my first music drafts with Suno AI—and why they’re still mine.
Here’s the process:
1. The Idea
I started with a riff—a guitar melody I’d recorded years ago. (Thank you, iCloud, for holding onto 10+ years of my messy ideas.)
I’m not a good singer, so I never acted on these ideas. They sat on my phone, gathering dust. AI changed that.
2. The Upload
I uploaded the riff to Suno AI and let it extend the idea. The AI built on my melody, creating an instrumental track that felt mine.
I crafted the lyrics.
3. The Tweaks
Suno let me:
- Add vocals with my lyrics or keep it instrumental.
- Change the style (acoustic, hard rock, jazz, you name it).
- Remaster the track with higher-quality sound.
6. The Collaboration
AI isn't just a simple input-output machine. I mixed and matched parts from different tracks, refined them in GarageBand, added recordings from my instruments, then sent them back to Suno for final polishing. I'll walk you through the entire process below.
Here's the result. Everything except the vocals (which are awesome) was created by me and polished by Suno—take a listen.
Does this sound like "AI killing creativity"? Not at all (unless I'm too biased about my own creations ^^).
AI became my co-creator, and the result was a track that felt 100% me.
We’re in a Renaissance Era
Something incredible is happening right now.
We're in the middle of a creative revolution where AI isn't just another tool - it's breaking down walls between imagination and reality. Whether you're into making music, writing stories, or crafting visuals, the game has changed. Anyone with an idea can bring it to life.
Let me show you what this means for all of us.
A Quick How-To: Making Art with AI
Let me share something practical before diving into the bigger ideas. I want to show you how to create something truly artistic using Suno AI. But here's the key - it's not about just feeding prompts into AI and getting outputs. It's about genuine collaboration between human creativity and AI capabilities. This approach works for everything you create with AI, whether it's music, writing, code, or marketing content.
Here's my story: For over a decade, I've been collecting song ideas on my phone (thanks, iCloud!). Every time inspiration struck, I'd grab my guitar and record rough versions of melodies bouncing around in my head.
But there was always one big roadblock - I'm not much of a singer. Learning to sing well takes serious time and dedication, especially when you weren't blessed with natural talent like me.
Despite playing instruments, I couldn't bring my ideas to life. I spent years looking for bandmates and trying different approaches, but nothing quite worked out.
That's where this renaissance era I keep talking about comes in. Everything changed when I finally took one of those old riffs gathering dust on my phone and uploaded it to Suno AI.
With Suno, you can start by uploading your own audio - it's pretty cool actually. Whatever you upload becomes the foundation for your song - it picks up on your tone, riffs, style, solos, and even your voice if you sing. After that, there's a whole bunch of things you can do with it.
- Want to extend your melody? Just pick a timestamp and let Suno work its magic. It'll keep your style, your solos, everything that makes it uniquely yours. You can add lyrics if you want, keep it instrumental, or throw in some ideas to guide the AI in the right direction.
By the way, you don't even need to start with your own recording - you can create something fresh from just an idea or some lyrics. But in this letter I want to focus on how to truly collaborate with AI to make art.
- You can save any prompt that works well and reuse it for other songs.
- Want to experiment? Create different versions of your song - try it as acoustic, hard rock, or even rap. The possibilities are endless!
- Need that professional polish? Use Suno's V4 remastering tool. It really shines when it comes to vocals, and you can layer the effects as much as you want. The results are pretty incredible.
Let me show you what I mean:
- Here's the first song I made from one of my guitar riffs (raw version)
- Here's the remastered version (with just one layer of processing)—notice the difference?
The tool offers plenty of editing features to help you shape your music exactly how you want it.
Now, you might be thinking: "Sure, I can start with my own recording, but isn't everything after that just AI-generated?" Not quite! Let me show you why you still have tons of creative control.
Once you've generated your AI-inspired songs (you can create as many versions as you like, just need more credits), here's what you can do:
A) Mix and match: Take your favorite parts from different generated songs, combine them in GarageBand, then let Suno AI polish it up with remastering or create a fresh cover (this is actually the real magic).
B) Get hands-on: Blend the AI tracks in GarageBand with your own instruments - guitar, midi keyboard, whatever you've got. Think of it as creating your own musical remix. Once you've got your "mashup" ready, Suno AI can give it that final professional touch.
C) Fine-tune on the fly: Love a song but only up to the 1:23 mark? No problem! Tell Suno to take it in a new direction from there - different style, new lyrics, whatever you imagine.
This is exactly how I crafted "Wizard Queen" that you heard earlier.
If you're a musician, give this a try - I'd love to hear what you create! And even if you're just looking to add some musical flair to your marketing or content, this is a game-changer. After all, music is how we create emotion.
Here's the thing: AI is just another tool in your creative toolkit. Sure, you can use it as a simple input/output machine, and that's fine. But for creators, it opens up endless possibilities - not just in music, but in writing, images, videos, you name it.
The tools are here. The only question is, how will you use them?
Welcome to the New Renaissance
We’re living through a creative revolution.
AI isn’t killing art—it’s unleashing it.
Explosive Creativity
Anyone can create. Anywhere. Anytime.
A song before lunch. A gallery of art by dinner. A novel over the weekend.
AI tools don’t just make creation faster—they make it limitless.
Cultural Rebirth
Old ideas are coming back to life.
Forgotten music genres. Vintage art styles. Stories left untold.
AI reimagines the past and builds bridges to the future.
Technological Breakthroughs
Technology is advancing at a speed that’s hard to grasp.
Tools like Suno AI didn’t exist two years ago. Now, they make professional-level creation accessible to anyone.
