8 Reasons why you should use Perplexity instead of Google.

Google is broken.

We’ve all been there—you search for a simple answer online, but instead, you get bombarded with ads, unhelpful content, and unrelated websites. You spend a lot of time scrolling through search results, trying to find what you actually need. This can be annoying, especially for someone like me who is "straight-to-the-point" driven.

A few months ago, I entirely switched to Perplexity AI.

I’ll admit, I didn’t expect much. After all, Google has been the search engine to which we’ve all defaulted for years. This might sound a bit sales-y, but using Perplexity felt like upgrading to the search tool I always dreamed of.

And it’s free.

This isn’t a paid promotion. I’m just speaking from my own experience. Perplexity genuinely changed how I work.

If you’re still glued to Google, here’s why you might want to rethink that.

Why You Should Use Perplexity Instead of Google

Here’s the thing: I’m not here to bash Google. It’s great when I need to find a local taco truck or search for images. But when it comes to serious research, brainstorming, or content creation, Perplexity has taken the crown.

Let’s break down why:

1. Time Efficiency

Google makes you dig. You scroll through pages, dodge ads, and try to make sense of repetitive content. Perplexity gives you answers immediately. No fluff. No filler. It feels like having a personal research assistant handing you the most relevant info on a silver platter.

2. No Ads, Ever

Google has turned search results into a billboard for the highest bidder. Ever searched for something only to see ads for products you browsed months ago? Perplexity is a clean slate—no distractions, just pure content. Imagine how much more focused your work can be without the noise.

3. High-Quality Information, Fast

Perplexity doesn’t just pull from random websites. It scours reliable sources and gives you direct answers, complete with citations. It’s like asking an expert and getting a well-researched summary. This is a game-changer for entrepreneurs needing accurate, reliable information to make quick decisions, write content, etc.

4. Conversation-Style Search

Ever asked Google something, then realized you needed a follow-up question? Perplexity makes this easy. Ask a question, then drill deeper with follow-ups. It’s like chatting with the world’s most patient and knowledgeable assistant. Whether brainstorming new business strategies or exploring complex topics, this feature allows you to go beyond surface-level answers.

5. Source Transparency

Every answer comes with receipts. No more guessing where the information is coming from. Perplexity offers full transparency, linking you to the original sources. This alone is worth the switch for anyone who values credibility and depth in their research.

6. Brainstorming Partner for Solopreneurs

For solopreneurs, every minute counts. You’re wearing all the hats—marketing, product development, customer service, strategy. With Perplexity, you can dive into a topic, ask follow-up questions, and get tailored insights faster than any other tool. Need inspiration for your next email campaign? Want to explore trends shaping your industry? Perplexity is like having an AI-powered think tank at your disposal.

7. Perplexity Pages: Your AI Content Factory

If you’re a content creator, this is gold. Perplexity’s Pages feature allows you to easily generate entire articles backed by citations and formatted. It’s like having a personal writer who understands your topic and does all the heavy lifting. Whether working on a blog, social media post, or report, Pages cut your workload in half.

8. Customizable and Always Evolving

Unlike Google, which often feels static, Perplexity is constantly evolving. Its AI is designed to learn, adapt, and improve. Plus, you can customize your search experience—tailoring results for beginners, experts, or anyone in between. It’s not just about getting answers; it’s about getting the right answers for your needs.

Breaking the Google Habit

Let’s be real: it’s hard to break habits. Even though Perplexity is objectively better for most searches, I still defaulted to Google out of muscle memory. It was like getting a new phone and instinctively reaching for buttons that were no longer there.

So, I set Perplexity as my default search engine. Game-changer.

No more muscle memory holding me back. Every time I search, I’m met with Perplexity’s clean interface and spot-on results. Here’s how you can do the same:

1. Open Google Chrome.

2. Go to Settings > Search Engine.

3. Add Perplexity as your default by entering its URL.

4. Done.

Every time you search, you’ll be greeted by Perplexity’s clean, ad-free results.
